Mulago operates a Private Patients` Service Scheme in addition to general patient care. The funds collected by the scheme aim at ensuring an enhanced quality in the services offered to the Private Patients, and general improvements in the rest of the hospital.

To develop operations of the Private wing of Mulago hospital into a strategic business unit that is self sustaining, efficient ad effective.

Location:
The physical facilities of the Private Patients` scheme are mainly the Private Outpatients` department (POPD) on the 2nd floor and the amenities on the whole of the 6th floor.

The P.O.P Department is located on the 2nd floor of the Lower Mulago, just before Mulago Stanbic Bank Branch. When you enter the building the reception is on the immediate left. The various rooms of the department are appropriately labeled on the doors.

In-Patient Accommodation The scheme has 132 beds on 6th floor wards namely 6A, 6B, 6C and 6D&E.
The wards comprise of 4-bed, 2-bed, and VIP accommodation facilities.
The VIP suites: 6A Medical, Surgical and Paediatrics, 6C Surgical, 6D&E Obstetrics.

Operating Theatres:
The Private Wing has well-equipped Operating Theatres located on the 6th floor. These handle Caesarian operations and other general / specialized surgical operations in all the surgical disciplines. There is also a theatre for emergency operations located at the P.O.P.D 2nd floor that operates during the normal working hours.

Who qualifies for Private Wing services? Use of the Private Wing Services is open to anybody prepared to pay for them. Individuals both Nationals and Foreign, Government and non-Government organizations, and Private companies are welcome and encouraged to use our Medical facilities.
