Dr Byamugisha holds a PhD from Makerere University and Karolinska Institute. He has a Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a Diploma in Obstetrics and Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery all from Makerere University. He has done several short courses and is the current Head of Department. His major interest is in Family Planning and infection control. He teaches Obstetrics and Gynaecology to undergraduate and graduate students. He has published widely. His most outstanding work is on emergency contraception.
