The Services

The Department provides a wide range of services.

For purposes of good patient care, the department is divided into five sub-specialities/divisions. Each division is headed by a senior obstetrician/gynaecologist. They are all situated on the 5^th floor of New Mulago Hospital (Lower Mulago) except the division of Urogynaecology that is situated in Old Mulago (Upper Mulago).

The divisions include:

Patients are admitted to these divisions through either the emergency wards or the different outpatient clinics.

The emergency admission wards include labour suite and 5A-Annex. Some outpatient clinics take place in the Antenatal/Gynaecology Outpatient Clinics situated on the 5^th floor of New Mulago Hospital (Lower Mulago).

Other outpatient clinics are situated in Old Mulago (Upper Mulago) such as the Family Planning Clinic and the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) follow up clinic.

In Old (Upper) Mulago, there is the Old Mulago Maternity Centre (OMMC) where mothers who are considered low risk are managed by a team of dedicated midwives.

The department also offers Private Patient Services. Private patients are seen from the second floor of the New Mulago Hospital Complex private outpatients department. Emergencies and admissions for private patients are managed from ward 6D&E.
